About Zakariya
Hi, I’m Zakariya Miah - a law graduate, Bar Practice Course student, education campaigner, and Youth Ambassador for the UK Attorney General’s Office.
My work sits at the intersection of law, education, public policy, and youth participation, with a particular focus on how institutions can expand opportunity, improve access, and meaningfully involve young people in the decisions that affect them.
I began this work at 15, hosting a drive-time radio show designed to make current affairs more accessible to young people. I later led a youth-focused knife crime prevention campaign in partnership with Bedfordshire Police, centred on early intervention, education, and community engagement.
I went on to found Educate2Youth, a youth-led education initiative focused on tackling inequalities in access to opportunities beyond the classroom and strengthening youth voice within education policy. Through this work, I have engaged with public institutions, policymakers, and organisations to support more effective outreach, challenge structural barriers, and encourage greater youth participation in decision-making.
Alongside my education work, I serve as a Youth Ambassador for the UK Attorney General’s Office. I have contributed to work surrounding public legal education, including the development of the Attorney General’s Public Legal Education Committee and its guiding principles, supporting efforts to improve public understanding of the law and the rule of law.
I have also served as a UK Youth Ambassador for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, represented young people in national and international forums, and contributed to wider work across youth engagement, education, policy, and civic participation.
Having completed my LLB, I am now undertaking the Bar Practice Course in London as I work towards becoming a barrister. I am particularly interested in human rights, public law, and criminal justice, and I hope to build a career that combines strong legal advocacy with a wider commitment to access, fairness, and public service.
At the same time, I remain open to opportunities across legal practice, policy, research, governance, and public affairs where I can contribute meaningfully, continue learning, and broaden my experience.
